At the same time as Operation Ferdinand, Tack HQ ran Operation Otterington. This deception built a threat against Rimini in the east of Italy, in support of Alexander's assault at the centre of the Gothic Line. However, once Operation Otterington had gotten underway, Alexander changed his plans and decided to push against Rimini. This created to much chaos and completely compromised the plan.
